Ed and Kathy's story begins at the University of Wisconsin - Madison. They met when Ed was working as a Research Specialist in the Department of Agronomy and Kathy was going to school to receive her Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology. Upon graduation Kathy was also hired to work as a research specialist in the Department of Agronomy. Two years later, they were married.

Together they had a dream, they wanted to develop a home business in which their entire family could participate while providing an environment for area families to visit and enjoy. Ed and Kathy's backgrounds played heavily into their decision to create a great farm market. Ed was raised on a dairy farm just north of Wausau, Wisconsin, while Kathy was raised in the suburbs of St. Paul, Minnesota. Even though Kathy was not raised on a farm, from very early on in life she had a love for nature and the environment. She attended the UW - Madison to receive a Certificate of Environmental Studies in addition to her B.S. degree in Zoology. For these reasons, Ed and Kathy decided it was time to start a farm of their own.

In the fall of 2000, they took the first step of purchasing land near the towns of Ridgeway and Barneveld, Wisconsin. They chose this land because of its beautiful rolling hills and serene valley, photo of farm in rolling hills in addition to its ease of access for their customers. Upon settling in this location, Ed and Kathy enlisted the help of many friends and family members to help get the farm going. With their help they put up a house, and began farming. Since 2000, Ed and Kathy have been expanding their planted strawberry acreage by one to two acres a year and they are now at 5 acres! Ed and Kathy have also begun planting other crops such as raspberries, asparagus, sweet corn, pumpkins, gourds, squash, and Indian corn.

In addition to maintaining the farm, Ed and Kathy find it very important to be active in their community. Their love for the area and people of Southwest Wisconsin drives them to get involved. Ed and Kathy are active members of the St. Joseph's Church in Dodgeville, Wisconsin where Ed also teaches religious education and participates in the Dodgeville Knights of Columbus. Ed also substitute teaches for the Dodgeville and Barneveld school districts. Ed and Kathy cannot wait for you to come and visit their farm. Their goal is to provide a place where families will gather to pick the finest produce.
